136 Colorado companies make Inc. 5000 list

A Boulder-based company that sells popular phone accessories is ranked No. 2 on Inc. magazine’s 2018 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America, which was released Wednesday.

PopSockets, which launched on Kickstarter in 2012, markets PopSocket Grips, a circular and collapsible stick-on phone accessory that provides better grip and can act as a kickstand. The company said it had revenue of nearly $170 million in 2017, up 71,000 percent from three years ago.

PopSockets, which trailed only Madison, Wisconsin-based software company SwanLeap, was the highest ranking of 136 companies based in Colorado that made the 2018 Inc. 5000 list. That’s 24 more Colorado companies than appeared on the 2017 list.

Inc. 5000 ranking is determined by percent revenue growth between 2014 and 2017. Companies must apply to be included and self-report their revenue figures. To be included, companies must have had revenue of at least $100,000 in 2014 and $2 million in 2017.

Here are the other Colorado companies that made an appearance in the list’s first 500 spots:

● No. 4: Velocity Global, based in Denver, reported 39,817 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $49.2 million last year, the company bills itself as a resource for global commercial expansion consultation with a focus on recruiting, immigration and payroll. Founder and CEO: Ben Wright.

● No. 48: Mindful Health, based in Evergreen, reported 5,463 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $19.7 million last year, the company creates fitness media, including instruction videos, recipe books and live events. CEO: Craig Collins.

● No. 68: Pax8, based in Greenwood Village, reported 4,393 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $11.0 million last year, the company specializes in cloud-based distribution services. CEO: John Street.

● No. 83: AdCellerant, based in Denver, reported 3,945 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $8.9 million last year, the company is a digital advertising and marketing firm. CEO: Brock Berry.

● No. 149: Choozle, based in Denver, reported 2,838 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $13.6 million last year, the company develops a digital advertising platform for marketers. CEO: Andrew Fischer.

● No. 164: OrthoFi, based in Denver, reported 2,618 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $7.3 million last year, the company specializes in developing business software for orthodontists. CEO: David Ternan.

● No. 182: Amplio Digital, based in Boulder, reported 2,374 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $2.8 million last year, the company is a digital marketing firm. CEO: Marshall Hayes.

● No. 288: Bridgewater Homes, based in Loveland, reported 1,699 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $29.9 million last year, the company is a construction outfit that builds single-family homes. CEO: Bill Robinson.

● No. 342: Vinyl Me, Please, based in Denver, reported 1,452 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $10.4 million last year, the company offers a vinyl record subscription service and individual sales online. CEO: Matt Fiedler.

● No. 417: SelectHub, based in Denver, reported 1,205 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $4.5 million last year, the company develops cloud-based software for IT sourcing and other software sales. CEO: Venkat Devraj.

● No. 450: Rep Fitness, based in Denver, reported 1,135 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $10.3 million last year, the company sells home gym equipment. CEO: Ryan McGrotty.

● No. 462: V3Gate, based in Colorado Springs, reported 1,106 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $119.3 million last year, the company works with government agencies and the military in the realm of data, management and marketing. CEO: Oscar Valdez.

● No. 483: CanSource, based in Longmont, reported 1,047 percent revenue growth since 2014. With revenue of $11.5 million last year, the company designs and prints designs for craft breweries and small batch beverages. CEO: Pat Hartman.
