Q: What are the key advertising trends to watch for in 2025?

Meghan: Every marketer should have a few trends on their radar. First, artificial intelligence (AI) in advertising will shake things up. We’re already seeing some incredible applications with AI advertising tools, but by 2025, AI and machine learning will take things to a new level. Think hyper-personalized campaigns, smarter ad spend optimization, and detailed data analysis.

Another huge trend is mobile-first advertising. Let’s face it: everyone’s glued to their phones, and this isn’t slowing down. Did you know 70% of the world’s population uses mobile phones? Brands that aren’t thinking mobile-first by now are already behind.

Meanwhile, R.I.P. third-party browser cookies. Cookies were supposed to disappear from Google back in 2024. But Google hit pause. Again. Honestly, advertisers have already moved on. Most digital ad budgets go to cookie-free spaces like mobile apps and Streaming TV. 

Speaking of Streaming TV, it’s one of the most significant opportunities right now. With traditional cable fading into the background, everyone’s flocking to streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. The ad-supported streaming tiers are a game-changer because they let brands deliver super-targeted, high-quality video ads where people are watching. With 82% of U.S. households now streaming, Connected TV advertising is just this perfect combo of massive reach and advanced audience targeting.

Q: How do you think artificial intelligence (AI) will impact advertising in 2025?

Meghan: AI is already shaking up the advertising world, and by 2025, it’s only getting bigger. We’re seeing AI and machine learning used to create super-personalized ads. These tools can sift through tons of data to spot trends and predict what people will engage with, helping brands connect with the right audience more effectively.

We’ll also see more AI-powered tools automating content creation,media buying, and audience-targeting tasks. This kind of automation boosts efficiency and frees up time for teams to focus on creative strategy.

Q: In what ways do you believe brands can optimize mobile advertising in 2025?

Meghan: To get mobile-first advertising right, brands must focus on personalizing their strategies around how people use their devices. In 2025, users will expect fast, seamless, and relevant experiences, so optimizing everything—content, design, and load times—for smaller screens is essential.

But mobile-first thinking is bigger than just ads. It must be embedded in every step of the customer journey, whether through social commerce, in-app purchases, or location-based offers. With AI making it easier to deliver personalized ads at scale, brands can stand out in the busy mobile world.

Q: What changes are expected in digital advertising regulations by 2025?

Meghan: As concerns about data privacy keep growing, advertising regulations will only get stricter in 2025. We’re already seeing governments worldwide cracking down on how brands collect and use consumer data, with new rules around cookie tracking, user consent, and data-sharing between platforms. For advertisers, this means transparency isn’t optional anymore. Brands must be crystal clear about how they’re collecting and using data. 

It’s also a good time to highlight data security and compliance certifications, like ISO 27001, to show you’re serious about data security and compliance. It’s not just about playing by the rules—it’s about earning your audience’s trust.

Q: What strategies do you recommend for advertisers in 2025?

Meghan: In 2025, advertisers must remain flexible and open to new strategies. Today’s successful strategies mix retail media, streaming TV, and social media to reach people in a fresh and engaging way.

 AI is another big one. It allows advertisers to automate tasks, optimize campaigns, and make data-driven decisions faster.
